A Fragile Beginning, A Strong Fight

For Rabiyathulla Bansari and his family, the birth of their baby boy was supposed to be a moment of pure joy. But when he arrived much earlier than expected—at just 27 weeks and 5 days, weighing a fragile 940 grams—their happiness quickly  turned into fear and uncertainty. Their tiny son needed immediate Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU) at Chennai Rainbow.

As days passed, new challenges emerged. The baby developed Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP), a serious condition affecting preterm infants’ eyes, requiring constant monitoring and specialized treatment. Then came another shock – suspected sepsis, a life-threatening infection and he was placed on IV antibiotics.

For the parents, watching their newborn struggle was heartbreaking. The emotional toll was immense, and the financial burden of prolonged NICU care only added to their worries. Extra Mile Foundation stepped in as a beacon of hope. With timely financial support, the foundation lifted a huge weight off their shoulders, allowing them to focus on what truly mattered—their baby’s recovery.

Today, as they hold their little fighter in their arms, they are filled with gratitude. “Extra Mile Foundation was our strength when we had none left. They gave our baby a chance at life, and for that, we will always be thankful,” say the parents.
